The main points include how animals face habitat loss and extinction risks, and how nature suffers from changes in weather and land. Impacts on Animals
Global warming causes many problems for animals around the world. For example, rising temperatures make it hard for species to survive in their usual homes. Moreover, animals like coral reef fish suffer because warmer oceans cause coral bleaching, destroying their habitats. However, some animals, such as certain birds, might find new places to live, but overall, the changes are harmful. In addition, extreme weather events like heatwaves kill animals directly; for instance, in Australia, flying foxes have died in large numbers during hot spells. Therefore, global warming puts pressure on wildlife, making it tougher for them to find food, breed, and avoid dangers. Impacts on Nature
Nature also faces serious negative effects from global warming, changing landscapes and ecosystems in worrying ways. Forests, for one, are hit hard by droughts and wildfires, which become more common with higher temperatures. In places like the Amazon, trees die off, releasing more carbon into the air and worsening the problem (Lovejoy and Nobre, 2018). This creates a bad cycle. Furthermore, oceans absorb much of the extra heat, leading to rising sea levels that flood coastal areas and erode beaches. Wetlands, which are important for filtering water and supporting plants, are lost as a result. A study by the World Wildlife Fund notes that biodiversity hotspots are at risk, with plants unable to migrate fast enough to escape changing climates (WWF, 2020). On the other hand, some areas might see more plant growth from extra CO2, but generally, the downsides outweigh this. Indeed, melting permafrost in the tundra releases methane, a strong greenhouse gas, which speeds up warming. These changes disrupt natural balances, affecting everything from soil health to water cycles.
