Our new credit-based model is designed to be super flexible, allowing you to mix and match services as you need. In the past, you might have had to purchase one-off services for each type of help. Now, with credits, you have a single simple system: you get a bundle of credits each month and spend them on whatever combination of services helps you most. Whether this month you need writing assistance and next month you prefer marking and feedback, it’s no problem – the credits can be used across all our tools.
Affordable and predictable pricing
The credit subscriptions offer greater value and predictability for students on a budget. The entry-level Support Package is just £4.99 per month for 10 credits – roughly the price of a coffee – which could generate an entire 2,500-word advanced essay, with credits to spare.
Knowing you have a set number of credits each month can help you budget your academic expenses. There are also larger plans (25 or 60 credits per month) with bulk discounts if you know you’ll need more help (more on those packages below).
Importantly, there’s no long-term commitment – you can cancel any time if you no longer need it. The aim is to make high-quality AI essay assistance accessible to everyone without breaking the bank.

One of the best parts of our new system is that any unused credits will roll over to the next month. This means if you don’t end up using all your credits during a busy month, you won’t lose them. They accumulate in your account for when you do need them.

How the UniWriter credits work
The credits system is straightforward: depending on your subscription, you receive a set number of credits each month, and each service or tool in UniWriter “costs” a certain number of credits to use. Here’s the breakdown:
AI Essay Writer (Advanced model – 2:1/B standard essays)
1 credit per 500 words.
The Advanced AI model is geared to produce essays at approximately an upper-second class (2:1) standard. If you want to generate an essay draft using the advanced model, it will deduct one credit for every 500 words requested. For example, a 2,500-word advanced essay would use 5 credits. This model is more powerful than the free basic version, giving clearer structure and better content (more on the differences later).
AI Essay Writer (Premium model – 1st class/A standard essays)
2 credits per 500 words.
The Premium AI model is our top-tier essay writer, capable of producing work at a first-class standard. It uses a bit more credits because it employs a more advanced AI with a deeper knowledge base. If you opt for the premium writer, it will cost 2 credits for each 500 words generated. That means a 2,500-word premium essay would require 10 credits. Premium is ideal when you want the absolute highest quality and more sophisticated analysis from the AI.
Grade guarantee add-on
3 credits. This is an optional add-on you can choose when generating an essay with the advanced or premium model. The grade guarantee means we will provide an independent AI-generated grading report to verify the essay meets the standard you ordered (2:1 or 1st class).
Essentially, another intelligent system “marks” the AI’s work. If the essay falls short of the expected standard and you can show it, we offer a refund per our policy. Adding the grade guarantee costs 3 credits flat, no matter the essay length. It’s a small extra step that offers peace of mind that the draft you received is truly of the quality you need.
Detailed AI Marking Service (UniMarker)
10 credits per use.
This is a separate service where you submit your own essay (up to 5,000 words) and our AI will mark it and provide detailed feedback within seconds. It’s like having a virtual tutor or proofreader on-call. The marking tool has been trained on tens of thousands of essays with guidance from real university lecturers, so it evaluates your writing against university grading criteria and gives constructive comments. For example, it might highlight if your argument needs strengthening, if your structure is unclear, or if your referencing could be improved.
Using the marking service on one paper uses 10 credits (for one full marking report). This can be incredibly useful before you submit an assignment – you get an objective critique and can revise accordingly, no waiting for feedback.

This is a great entry-level plan for occasional assistance.
Example usage: With 10 credits you could generate two 2,500-word advanced essays (5 credits each), or one 2,500-word premium essay (10 credits) in a month. It’s perfect if you have maybe one or two essays due and want some AI help to get started or to ensure quality.
Smart Study Package – £8.99/month for 25 credits:
A good mid-tier option for students with multiple projects or who want to use a variety of services. 25 credits gives you a lot of flexibility.
For example: in a month you could generate one premium 2,500-word essay (10 credits), one advanced 2,500-word essay (5 credits), and use the marking service on one essay (10 credits) – all of that with a single month’s credits.
You save around 10% cost compared to buying the smallest plan multiple times, making it pretty cost-effective.
Elite Package – £12.99/month for 60 credits:
This is the best value plan, designed for those who want to really stay ahead on their assignments. 60 credits per month is a lot – example usage: you could get two full 3,000-word premium essays (about 12 credits each), two marking service reports (20 credits), and three 2,500-word advanced essays (15 credits), with a few credits still left over!
If you have a demanding term with several courses requiring essays or you want to generate multiple drafts, the Elite plan ensures you have all the support you need. It boasts over 56% savings compared to the equivalent in smaller plans.
No matter which plan you choose, remember: all credits roll over as long as your subscription is active. And you can cancel or change your plan at any time with no fees. The credits live in your UniWriter wallet, an account area where you can always see your balance and top up if needed.
Using your credits is seamless – when you generate an essay or request a service, the system will simply deduct the appropriate credits from your balance. It’s a bit like having a prepaid card for academic help that refills every month.

1. Generate Custom AI-Written Essays (Advanced or Premium)
The core of UniWriter is our AI essay writer, which can generate a fully structured, academically sound essay draft for you based on the topic or question you provide. With credits, you can choose between the Advanced and Premium models, depending on the level of quality you need:
Advanced AI Essay Writer –
This model is tuned to produce essays roughly equivalent to a 2:1 (upper second-class) standard (which is around a B grade). It’s great for most standard assignments. The advanced AI has been trained on billions of words from academic books, journals, and high-quality essays. You can expect a well-organised essay with clarity, coherence, and proper in-text citations. In fact, unlike generic chatbots that might give you predicable but empty paragraphs, UniWriter’s advanced model is designed to output an essay that feels like it was written by a knowledgeable student following academic conventions.
Every essay the AI writes comes fully referenced – you’ll get in-text citations throughout the essay and a reference list at the end, formatted in an academic style. This is a huge help, because it means you immediately have source material to verify and read further. (No more scrambling to find references after writing the essay – UniWriter does that heavy lifting for you up front.)
Additionally, with the advanced service, we include a free reference authenticity check. That means the system double-checks that the sources it cited are real and actually back up the content. The premium AI is an even more advanced engine (you might consider it a “hyper-intelligent” model) that has been fine-tuned with extra training to provide deeper analysis, critical evaluation, and nuanced arguments.
If your essay needs to be really high caliber – say you’re aiming for that first-class mark or the topic is complex – the premium model is the way to go. It will not only meet the criteria but often exceed the depth you’d get from a basic AI. Like the advanced model, it also provides fully referenced output and uses the reference checker to ensure authenticity.
Because of the additional sophistication, the premium writer uses 2 credits per 500 words. So, for example, a 1,000-word essay would cost 4 credits, and a 3,000-word essay (the upper limit for premium) would cost 12 credits.
Private essays –
Both advanced and premium essays remain completely private to you (unlike the free basic outputs which are published publicly). They’re saved in your account area, so you can access them anytime, and you can easily copy and paste from the results or download the essay as a Word document. That means after the AI generates your essay, you can click a button to download a .docx file and then open it in Microsoft Word or Google Docs to edit as you please.
Tip: To get the most out of the AI writer, be sure to provide a clear prompt and add any notes or instructions for the AI. UniWriter allows you to input the exact essay question or title, select the subject area (so the AI tailors the content to, say, History vs. Biology context), and even include additional notes for the AI where you can specify particular points to cover or your stance on the topic. You can also paste examples of your own writing style – for instance, a paragraph from a previous essay you wrote – into the prompt (there’s an option for that).
